T-Mobile Pulse with Android OS

The T-Mobile Pulse is the newest smartphone from T-Mobile to sport the Android operating system from Google, although it has a good skin, named Canvas, over the top. It’s a major improvement on the last model from the company, taking full advantage of what Android has to offer, and with very different styling. But at under £200 on pay as you go, for a smartphone it’s actually quite a cheap mobile phone.

The Pulse feels like a big phone, and might not be comfortable for all hands, but it looks good, and the size is necessary to accommodate the large screen – a full 3.5”, which makes video a glorious experience, even thought the resolution could be a bit sharper. Canvas doubles the number of home screens on the phone to six, with the option of adding more if the user desires.

Strangely, given that this is powered by Google, there’s no search icon – instead, users have to enter terms into the search box on the screen, although there are icons for most other things. The range of apps for the phone, whilst nowhere near as wide as Apple, is still pretty impressive, meaning a user should be able to get something for every desire.

Android gives an excellent browsing experience for consumers, but the touchscreen itself could definitely be more responsive, although it’s far better than some. The lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a real oversight, and the camera doesn’t have a flash, another big omission. Still the T-Mobile Pulse is a very good, and reasonably priced, smartphone.
