Latest Nokia Mobile Phones

Nokia mobile phones have been manufactured since the late 1980s. The Finnish company is the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world, having sold over 1 billion phones. It is primarily known for making easy-to-use phones but has also entered the smartphone market lately. With Apple and Android phones making such waves it is vital for Nokia mobile phones to start competing with its new rivals. The Nokia E6 is aimed at the business market and features a Qwerty keyboard as well as a touchscreen. It comes with the latest version of the Symbian Anna interface. This has been redesigned with new icons and provides a better web browsing experience. The keyboard is illuminated and very easy for typing with. It comes with 8GB of memory, which can be expanded via a microSD card. The camera has 8 megapixels and takes 720p video as well. Its resolution of 640 by 480 compares favourably with the Blackberry Torch. The Nokia X7 is a smartphone operating under Symbian Anna. It is very solidly built, which compares well to other smartphones. It has a 4-inch AMOLED screen, which can display high definition video well. The camera has 8 megapixels and has a duel-LED flash. This enables it to take good photos even in poor lighting conditions.  The Nokia N9 is a smartphone that is powered by its latest MeeGo operating system, enabling it to compete much better than its older smartphones. It has a tough screen measuring 3.9 inches. This new phone helps make the range of current Nokia mobile phones appeal to all types of people.

Evaluation of the Samsung Omnia 7

The Samsung Omnia 7 is a Windows Phone 7, the first to be produced by Samsung. The touchscreen is a good size of around 4 inches and features the Super AMOLED technology. It has the basic specifications you would expect of a Windows Phone 7, such as a camera with 5 megapixels and LED flash, Wi-Fi and GPS. Due to the screen size both maps and websites are displayed in good definition. Its own Maps application compares favourably with Google Maps. The virtual keyboard has some nice touches. When a key is pressed it is highlighted and triggers a confirmation sound. The interface can be customised with the ability to add icons for your favourite apps. The camera has a variety of settings and can also film 720p HD Video. There is a mechanical shutter key that works effectively to operate the camera. The phone is well built and feels solid. The phone doesn’t have a microSD card slot. It comes with 8GB of memory, which is reasonable for most people but if you like having a lot of memory on your phone this is something to be aware of. The amount of apps available for Windows phone can’t compare to other types of phone. However, with more Windows phones being produced this situation is sure to improve.  If you like Samsung mobile phones then you will find this is another great phone. There are also some good Samsung Omnia 7 deals around.

LG Optimus Black Review – A decent Android Phone

The LG Optimus Black can be most obviously compared to the LG Optimus 2X.  Released just after the Optimus 2X, this phone, however, does not find itself battling with high-end smartphones as the 2X does.  While the 2X comes with LG’s new dual-core processing technology, the LG Optimus Black just has a single 1GHz processor.  However, as both phones are around the same price, does it make sense to go for the LG Optimus Black? For this model, LG has pushed its NOVA display, which it claims not only provides better screen visibility in sunlight, but also saves up to 50% of battery consumption.  While the quality of resolution is not quite as good as super AMOLED displays found on many other models, the NOVA technology means colour appears more natural on the LG Optimus Black than with many competitors. The phone arrives with 1GB of internal memory storage although an expansion of up to 32GB is available via the MicroSD™ slot.  The 4-inch screen of the Optimus Black means that video calls are superb thanks to the 2-megapixel front-facing camera.  While the rear-facing camera is of an average 5 megapixels, LG has pushed video calling with a front camera that beats many rivals. With regards to battery life, the huge 1500mAh battery and NOVA display means that the Optimus Black will require a lot less charging than some smartphones of a similar price range.  While the Optimus Black cannot claim to be the biggest or the best, LG has built a sturdy, reliable phone that will not let you down.

HTC Desire S Overview

It seems that HTC is launching an updated version of its models almost every day.  Take the HTC Desire S, for example.  It all started with the Desire in 2010, and now we have the Desire HD, the Desire HD2 and the Desire S, among others.  So what makes this device different from its predecessors?  Is it merely an upgrade of an upgrade or a standalone model in its own right? There is no doubting that when the original Desire was launched in 2010 it was fantastic.  It was a feature-filled phone that heralded the progress of mobile technology companies and spawned many bigger and better models.  The Desire S, HTC hopes, has retained what made its predecessor so good as well as introducing new features and advancements, which will ensure this model line can still compete with the best. To look at, the HTC Desire S has taken a big step forwards aesthetically.  No longer are the big buttons visible on the front of the phone, rather they are seamlessly integrated with the large 3.7-inch touchscreen which has been retained from older models.  Another noticeable difference is the introduction of a front-facing camera, which will support 3G video calling, a feature which manufacturers are keen to progress. Inside, however, the HTC Desire S is not massively different to its older brother.  The phone packs 1.1GB of internal memory and 768MB RAM which is not greatly improved from the Desire. All in all, while the HTC Desire S is something of an improvement from the original Desire, it doesn’t seem to have taken the huge leap forward which consumers want.

Mobile Broadband – how does it work?

What Is Mobile Broadband? Mobile broadband allows access to the internet through wireless devices such as a portable modem, telephones, personal computer (PC) cards, USB modems, USB sticks or internal mobile broadband modules.  Mobile broadband allows you to access the internet while travelling for business or pleasure.  It is also a popular method for accessing broadband internet in rural or remote areas that do not have fixed line broadband access. Mobile Broadband Speed Mobile broadband can be a slower service than fixed line broadband.  This is because mobile networks are currently not as advanced and capable of handling large amounts of data as fixed lines.  A lot will depend on the use to which you are likely to put your mobile broadband service.  Regular internet browsing can be as fast as when using fixed line broadband; however, the downloading and uploading of material can be significantly slower. Optimal and Average Speed Mobile broadband service providers will sometimes state the optimal speed achieved by their service, as opposed to the average speed.  Mobile broadband can slow down significantly when the mobile network has a lot of users, which often happens at peak times during the day.  At other times, when the number of users drops, the speed can accelerate to optimal levels.  It is advised to check the differences in speed during the day compared to your most likely usage times.  You may discover that you can find faster speeds using a different service provider.

Motorola Atrix Review – does it have what it takes?

The Motorola Atrix is the latest offering from a resurgent company hoping to expand on a niche for high-end smartphones.  Simply put, the Motorola Atrix has it all; a huge 4-inch screen, 1GB RAM, a 5-megapixel camera and 16GB internal memory with a MicroSD™ slot which will support an additional 32GB.  Even better, Motorola decided to introduce fingerprint recognition technology to the Motorola Atrix.  When the phone is first removed from the box the owner is asked to press their finger on the screen three times to get a reading.  From then on the phone can be unlocked via the biometric fingerprint reader, providing a high-tech security measure. As is the norm in today’s smartphone world, the Atrix is seamlessly integrated with the usual social media applications (Facebook, MySpace and Twitter) and the highly customisable interface of the phone means the consumer is guaranteed to get a truly unique experience.  Rarely on a mobile phone is a battery seen larger than 1500mAh, however, Motorola has installed the Atrix with the world’s most powerful battery, at a massive 1930mAh.  Many Android phones have been criticised for their poor battery life although with such a large battery, the Atrix surely will not be one of them. On the downside, the Motorola Atrix only comes equipped with version 2.2 of Android’s operating system, although Motorola promise 2.3 will arrive late into 2011.  This, however, is a minor flaw in what can be considered one of the best smartphones on the market.

What’s so special about BlackBerry Phones?

BlackBerry first gained prominence in the world marketplace in 1999, launching its 850 model two-way pager.  However, BlackBerry smartphones as they are known today were released in 2003 and gained almost immediate success.  One key feature of BlackBerry models is their focus on physical QWERTY keyboards, as opposed to the touchscreen versions now commonplace with many rivals.  So, what is a BlackBerry phone? Although BlackBerry smartphones were originally marketed for the use of business people, due to their focus on email communication, their appeal is now apparent in different social strata and BlackBerry is now the fifth most popular device manufacturer, behind Nokia, Samsung, LG and Apple, with a 14.8% market share. What is BlackBerry BBM?  The BlackBerry Messenger system, more commonly known as BBM, is a unique selling point of the BlackBerry brand, enabling a free instant-messaging application between BlackBerry owners via a unique PIN.  As well as the instant-messaging feature, BlackBerry owners can share photos, videos and music files all through BBM. In an age where most smartphones look identical (take the LG Optimus Black and the iPhone 4 as an example), it is refreshing to see that BlackBerry has not followed the same minimalistic route that many of its competitors have gone down.  Instead the chassis often looks busy, a feature accentuated by the often visible QWERTY keyboard on most models. There is no doubt that BlackBerry devices are made for communication.  While some devices may lack the aesthetic simplicity of the iPhone or the processing power of LG, there is no denying that the BlackBerry brand is universally accessible and provides ease of service.

Samsung Omina 7 – How good is it?

The Samsung Omina 7 is the latest Windows 7 mobile phone offered by electronics giant Samsung. What is an Android Sat Nav?

An Android phone is any phone which runs using internet search giant Google’s leading Android mobile phone operating system. This software is an incredibly powerful piece of kit and allows the phones it runs on to execute complex processes, such as working as a Sat Nav. Therefore, the answer to the question ‘What is an Android Sat Nav’ can be said to be any Android powered phone which also operates as a satellite navigation system. Unlike many other smart phones, Android phones come with a build in Sat Nav system care of Google Maps. This system will allow users to plan and track a journey by car, foot or public transport. However, while this software can be handy for finding directions to somewhere nearby, it can leave a lot to be desired when compared to some of specialist Sat Nav software available on the Android Market. Sat Nav software is remarkably complex and while the Google Maps navigation works admirably, especially when you consider the fact that it comes free with the phone, there are pieces of software on the market which do the job better. These improved Sat Nav systems are not expensive, with high quality ones appearing from £15 upwards, and can be very worthwhile for users who regularly need their Android phone to double as a Sat Nav. Still, whether it is a £15 piece of software of free Google Maps app, an Android Sat Nav is still much cheaper than a stand-alone model.
