Nokia 7230 Review

The Nokia 7230 is a low budget handset that is constructed well. It is bland but sturdy and can be purchased in either the standard black and chrome or a shocking pink fuchsia.

The highlights of this phone are that it makes messaging, sharing images and social networking a dawdle; it is a perfect first buy for those people upgrading from a regular Nokia phone.  But although the phone can handle internet browsing, social networks and media playback, it is rather fiddly, incredibly slow and does so on a pretty small screen.

The camera has 3.2 megapixels, a video camera and player and a shortcut button on the side of the handset but if you opt not to use that you have to hunt for the camera launch in the Apps folder.  You’ll find it possible only to take shots in good light, as there is no built in flash.

There is a built in music player and has the welcome addition of a 3.5 mm headphone jack that means you can listen to your favourite tracks or the FM radio on your favourite headphones.  A minus of the audio player is that there is no physical volume control.

Sometimes the select, call and end buttons on the front panel need some heavy pressing before they register and this could be a real pain in the neck if you were in a hurry.

But the phone is a Nokia, which means that it’s easy to navigate the menus. If you want to check out other similar phones then look for the Sony Ericsson Jalou or the T-Mobile pulse Mini.
