Have the benefit of 2 keypads with the Nokia E75
Nokia tries to expand its reach among the business crowd with the Nokia E75, a compact phone that offers not one, but two keypads.
The QWERTY keyboard pulls out and offers a very good typing experience for messaging, even allowing copy and cut and paste. Although it’s far from the biggest around (and not even the biggest Nokia has produced) it’s very serviceable, and contains some good ideas, such as the dedicated ‘@’ key, which can save a great deal of fiddling.
Those who prefer regular texting can use the numerical keypad although, oddly, it’s nowhere near as good on the fingers as the keyboard – a strange design.
The mobile phone does come with a great deal. There’s Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3.5G, as well as a very decent camera that’s also good with movies.
It’s all well designed, with a small but very solid case, and automatic rotation to landscape mode when held horizontally. The real problem, if it is a problem, is that it doesn’t offer significant advances over older models in the E series from Nokia; there’s no huge incentive for users of those models to upgrade to this – and an upgrade is all it is, not a brand new model, by any means.
While it’s a good phone with some appealing features, Nokia has done this better elsewhere. That said, the choice between two keyboards, each offering a different experience, is a good one that could be incorporated into other phones at some point. This was a good try, but not completely successful.
