O2 Broadband is a broadband service provider located in the UK that provides service for both home broadband users, as well as mobile broadband users on a variety of mobile networks. O2 Broadband manages to offer solid service in both home broadband as well as mobile broadband, with a focus on “all around” value, rather than focusing on any one extreme (be it price, performance, or short contract length).

O2 Broadband’s focus on home broadband is centred on their unlimited plan, offering eight megabits per second of expected download rate with an unlimited download allowance. Priced at just £7.50 per month, this makes O2 Broadband’s offering a relatively inexpensive unlimited broadband plan, all while maintaining a relatively high rate of data transfer. In addition, those seeking a faster download rate can purchase a plan at £10.00 monthly for a 20 megabit per second connection. Unfortunately, this offer is only available to O2 Mobile service users, and is priced at an unreasonable £12.50 monthly for non O2 Mobile users.

As far as mobile broadband goes, O2 offers a wide variety of plans, including pay as you go programmes providing service only on the days you need it. This comes at a price of £2.00 per day, which is rather steep considering that O2 offers monthly service at £9.78 for a 3.6 megabit per second connection with a three gigabyte limit per month. All in all, this offering does not stand out much among the competition, however when bundled with home service, O2’s mobile offering becomes far more attractive.

Broadband comparison websites like Broadband-finder have proliferated almost as much as broadband providers in recent years, to keep up with the deals on offer, which change all the time. Anyone who is looking to upgrade from dial-up to broadband, change their broadband provider, switch to or add in mobile broadband, or is simply interested in what’s available out there, should take a look at the broadband and mobile broadband comparison websites. These are a bit like Which? reports, giving the low down on broadband deals, as they compare broadband providers in terms of service level, speed, support and length of contract. At a glance you can start to make sense out of the bewildering number of broadband providers and their various deals and packages, and find the one that’s right for you.

Tiscali broadband merged with TalkTalk broadband in 2010 and is a popular choice for the general user, with a range of packages to choose from, with different speeds, download limits and of course costs. Virgin Media broadband and Sky broadband are also very popular because they bundle up cable TV and telephone in competitive packages that can save you money on all three services. But with O2 broadband, Be broadband, Plusnet broadband and a raft of other broadband providers out there, it can seem daunting to make a choice.

Businesses in particular need to put a lot of thought into how they choose from the broadband providers lining up for their custom, as business broadband requirements are many and varied.

No longer is Tesco just a supermarket as they have branched out into many different services including broadband provision. They actually offer six different packages that are branded in a similar manner to their groceries. Starting at the most basic level they offer the Tesco Value package, which costs £13.67 and offers a 512Kb connection speed and a download limit of 3Gb per month. Their premium broadband deal is their Finest package that costs £24.44 per month. For that price customers can expect a connection speed of 2Mb with unlimited downloads although this is subject to the Tesco Broadband fair usage policy. The packages in between offer speeds ranging from 512Kb to 2Mb and download allowances of 3Gb, 6Gb and 10Gb.

If you choose Tesco as your broadband provider you can also expect to receive a free modem on most of their broadband deals, except the Finest package as those customers will receive a free wireless router. Connection is also free but you will be tied into a 12 month contract on all broadband deals. Customers will also receive Tesco email addresses and a web-space allowance.

If you were to compare broadband deals you would be likely to find that while Tesco is able to compete in terms of purse-friendly prices there are actually many other broadband deals out there from other broadband providers that offer higher download allowances and faster download speeds for similar prices. If price is your main concern then Tesco Broadband is certainly worth checking out.

When it comes to home broadband solutions, it would be difficult to find an easier option than O2 Takeaway. While some people may be confused by the various strategies and procedures that must be followed in order to establish a connection to a broadband network, the O2 home broadband Takeaway makes it possible to get the job done in literally a matter of minutes.

The Takeaway is aptly named. You simply go to a local retailer, pick up the Takeaway box that includes the wireless router and the instructions that you need to connect and use the device. From there, it is simply a matter of following the prompts to establish your service and begin enjoying the Internet in ways you could never accomplish on slower connections.

O2’s solution accomplishes something that is rarely possible with other broadband deals; the Takeaway puts the customer completely in control. You set up your connection to suit yourself, rather than ordering a service and waiting for the router and other essentials to show up at your door. If you decide to purchase the Takeaway box on Wednesday and have everything set up at midnight that night, you can do so.

This means you avoid time filling out endless paperwork in a store or creating an account online, then waiting for the router to be delivered. In addition, the set up process is so straightforward that you can easily move from one step to the next without fear of doing something wrong and having to start the process all over again.

In an age when people like instant gratification, the O2 Takeaway is just as convenient as ordering food from a restaurant and picking it up. Best of all, you have access to the O2 network, noted for its fast connections and generous download policies. If you are thinking of switching broadband providers, look at this option very closely, because it may be just what you have been searching for.
