The new generation of Apple iPhones have corrected many problems of the earlier models.  In 2010-2011, they have a good camera, great screen and a video call facility.  When we compare mobile phones, the iPhone 4 is a vastly superior model to its predecessor, the iPhone 3GS.  It has the best display and the touch screen is the most responsive when compared to mobile phones from other manufacturers.  It requires the static of your finger to operate, so there is unfortunately no option to use a stylus.  The ultra small, light-weight iPhone 4 also has a faster processor than earlier models.  Of course, a huge array of apps is also available from Apple.  The downside of the iPhone is the price.

Nokia

Nokie mobile phones have all of the features of the iPhone, but with a much slower response time.   Also, their 3D processor is inferior to the iPhone.  However, the GPS system of Nokia mobile phones is a big advantage.  Nokia is the only mobile phone network that offers free GPS navigation.  The Nokie Ovi suite is also a useful tool to synchronise your diary.

Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson produces the best smartphones with the latest android technology.  They also have the highest music quality.

Blackberry

Built for work and not fun, Blackberries have great work apps, but poor camera quality.  They also have great PC connectivity.

Samsung and LG

These phones are fast and responsive, and very popular with teenagers. They lead the market of budget phones.

The iPhone 3GS comes in 16 and 32GB, and features a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus and video recording. The iPhone only had 8GB with a 2- megapixel camera. The iPhone 3GS also comes in black and white casings while the iPhone only came in black. The new iPhone is faster, which can be noticed when using applications, including web browsers and games.

The iPhone 3GS includes all the features of the original iPhone, including the landscape keyboard, the cut, copy, and paste function, the spotlight search, and voice memos. However, the iPhone 3GS also comes with voice control and a compass. With the voice control, users can play songs or call people by simply speaking into the phone. The compass feature is handy when travelling as it orientates maps in the phone to the right direction.

When taking pictures, the screen of iPhone 3GS can be used to focus its 3-megapixel camera. The iPhone 3GS also allows videos to be recorded, edited, and shared easily.

In some areas, the iPhone 3GS can be used for Internet tethering. Mac notebooks and laptops can utilise the iPhone 3GS via USB or Bluetooth to connect to the Internet from anywhere.

The iPhone 3GS has a battery life of 300 hours when in standby mode. It can last up to nine hours when connected via Wi-Fi. Also, battery life can last for 10 hours of video playback, 30 hours of audio playback, and five hours of talk time on 3G.
